Like Jennie in the next case study, re-framing can put you sufficiently back in control of your behaviour so that further work on that belief may be unnecessary. But if not, don’t worry; this step still has one more exercise to go!

How disappointing would it be, to work through a lengthy change process for a belief, only to discover we don’t like the result?

Reframing a belief is a quick First Aid technique. But, in some cases, it’s sufficient to solve the problem.

It would be much easier to go back, start again and get it right if we were just imagining the results in advance – rehearsing them. So let’s do that!

When we rehearse and try out the changes we propose, we can then easily change the experience during rehearsal until we’re happy with it.

It’s been my personal experience, and that of my clients and seminar delegates, that this technique is very powerful.

So now we're going to carry out another exercise; this time using the power of our imagination to deliberately change a limiting belief. I’ve called this exercise Imagine Having a New Belief.
